2021 Jerome Reserve Pinot noir

Jerome Reserve Pinot noir is a collection of the best 25 barrels of the vintage. The 2021 Jerome is a blend of fruit from vineyards in all three of the AVAs that we farm which adds even more depth to this reserve wine. It is a compilation of high elevation Dijon clones from Dundee Hills and Chehalem Mountains, which contribute red fruit and elegance and lower elevation Wadenswil and Pommard clones from Yamhill-Carlton, which contribute richness, spice and earth. The wine exudes cocktail cherry and Italian plum fruit along with milk chocolate, nutmeg, leather and forest floor undertones. It shows amazing balance that leads into a long and juicy finish. This is definitely a bottle that will age well into the next decade.

It’s showing wonderfully but is really built to age. The aromas are generously sweet and fruited, with subtle spice and mineral notes that emerge from the background. The palate is rich, with ripe brambleberries, strawberries and balsamic. Savoury lift comes from wintergreen, wild anise and a note of black tea leaves. The finish lingers on a note of ripe plum and Chinese five spice.”

“The Jerome Reserve was fermented with about 10% whole cluster fruit giving it some extra spiciness and structure to the wine.  It then rested in 38% new French oak barrels for a total of 16 months.  It’s a collection of the best 20 barrels of the entire vintage and contains fruit from every vineyard in the portfolio.  Bright notes of fresh raspberries, blue plum, toasted cinnamon, fresh Blood orange zest, milk chocolate, grated allspice, and undertones of wet autumn leaves combine perfectly in the glass.  Tannins are silky smooth, while the elegant lemony acidity finishes things off.”
